The history of the MOGAMI River which is a Japanese 3 size fast flowing stream is old．It appears in “KOKIN WAKASYU (The ancient and modern times sum song book)” of the　HEIAN era.

They carried rice or a dyer’s saffron to EDO and OSAKA and carried KAMIGATA Culture such as NISHIJIN brocade or the doll back home on a returning ship.
Because MOGAMIKYO Gorge did not have a land route at all, river luck developed.
Eminent HAIKU poet / BASHO MATSUO came in the EDO era too.

He made the famous HAIKU which is “Gathering early summer rain, swiftly flow MOGAMI RIVER.(Translation by Donald Keene)”
